At long last I have moved into the new house and am sinking back into a normal schedule. *maniacal laughter* This is my fifth or sixth military move, and let me tell you, this one was a kick in the poop shoot.
Regardless, the house is now painted, baby-proofed, and mostly unpacked. I felt bad for the garbage collectors because I had a mountain of broken down cardboard boxes and packing paper stacked into the stratosphere in front of the driveway.
Other technical difficulties included: transitioning my business to a new state, building a companion author page to this one (located here), going 2,000 pounds over the weight limit for household goods (whoops), and attempting/succeeding to move a 200 pound desk and other miscellaneous furniture up a flight of stairs…two story houses are the worst.

I wrote a post a while back about how environment impacts writing. Some people are flexible and can write at a rock concert, and some people need a perfect little nook. I seem to fall into the latter category. But I have my nook now and am looking forward to judo chopping all the work that has been piling up.
A big “thank you” to J.R. Handley for stopping by the house and bringing over a housewarming gift from his family. Talk about a warm welcome to Virginia. Not only did we eat lasagna until our stomachs almost exploded, we also plotted out a short story for an upcoming anthology. We will be co-authoring the short story, so that should either be really mind blowing, or make people weep uncontrollably. Maybe both?
I mentioned my companion site, that is where I am going to start keeping updates on Wastelander, other book projects, collaborations/co-writing projects, and my author updates. I’m not dense enough to think everyone who comes here for writing tips gives a hoot about my hack fiction — but if you do, be sure to swing over for updates on that front.

You wouldn’t have broken my heart with offerings of tobacco. I will say that Heather loves those two travel cups. You know how Navy folks are with the caffeine delivery modules. Thanks again for the housewarming package and for helping me lug some cardboard.

Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted a room with those cool slanted ceilings. My wife says a room like this is called a FROG (finished room over garage). The neatest part is a tiny Alice in Wonderland style door in the corner which leads into a crawlspace. While my wife plans to use this crawlspace for storage, I plan to turn it into my evil lair.

There’s a good energy in the room. As soon as I walk into it, something about the space just feels right. Hopefully I can make some magic happen. If not, at least I have a neat room to spy on the neighbors from.

I’m looking forward to writing those posts. They help me just as much as they help everyone else. The good news is I burned through about five writing books and should have some great fodder for posts. Thanks for the encouragement. I’m looking forward to reading your posts again as well.

It’s great to be back. I think I’m going to shoot for two posts a week, but with the author page I will be tailoring some different content. So in total likely three posts (two on QE, one on author side — or more on author page if events are happening). For instance, J.R. Handley is coming over to the house to talk shop tomorrow, I was thinking about tossing together a “how-to” co-write post for the author side as we are co-writing a story for an anthology. But I will likely reblog this on QE too. I wanted to have a clear line between my own writing and “how-to” stuff/editing. Plus I wanted a place to give shout-outs to other authors, but I didn’t want to shove it down peoples throats who come to QE for writing advice. I’ll keep those rants on the author page. I’m hoping it makes life simpler, but explaining it feels complicated. *Corey shudders*

Hah! I actually can still see out the window if I want, just have to wheel my chair a foot or so in either direction. Besides, if I’m not writing at my desk, then I’m usually pacing. Though, if I’m not careful I might just start spying on the neighbors instead of doing anything productive.
My neighbors have a big fat rabbit. I thought it was a small dog at first,, but sure enough it was hopping around munching on greens. Then, to my surprise, they opened the door and it hopped right into their house. I guess this new state I’m living in is truly different…
